Everyone deserves a healthy dog!
After buying a number of so-called "show/breeding
prospects" in other breeds, Yvonne found
many breeders did not test their breeding
stock-and STILL refuse to screen their breeding
stock for possible genetic abnormalities that
are passed on to their offspring and generations
to come if used for breeding, even with testing
available for many genetic abnormalities!
We, as people who have and love dogs who
carry allergies, immune deficiencies and poor
structure leading to lameness and a lifetime
of pain, know what it is like to have continual
visits to the vet’s office and the costs
associated with their dog’s ongoing
care. Poor breeding is unfair to people who
buy a pet not suspecting that there may be
a lifetime of medical costs -- and most unfair
to the poor dog who has to endure a life of
pain and misery.
While there is no such thing as a perfect
dog, through careful genetic research of our
chosen lines and screening our breeding stock
with testing currently available to us, including
CERF eye exams by ACVO certified veterinary
ophthalmologists and either PennHip or OFA
hip x-rays, we strive to produce the healthiest
possible pup. Through continuing research
and collection of data from all our pup/dog
owners we strive to produce the healthiest
possible Swedish Vallhunds available. The
PaVon
Health Guarantee is found on page 5, Section
17 of our sales contract:
We guarantee the genetic health of our pups
for two years against any debilitating hereditary
genetic defects (such as blindness or severe
debilitating hip dysplasia). This guarantee
is null and void if the pup/dog has been abused,
neglected, sustained an injury thus causing
a debilitating condition due to that neglect
(ie., being hit by a car), or due to the buyers
failure to follow the health procedures and
policies outlined in our contract.
If your PaVon dog is found to have a genetic
defect as described above, upon presentation
of documentation of testing performed by a
licensed veterinarian or ACVO certified veterinary
ophthalmologist, PaVon Kennels will either
replace the dog with another acceptable pup,
or reimburse the cost of a pup.
